Industry News – 125 Years of Longines Timekeeping

On January 28, 2003, the Swiss watch company Longines, celebrates 125 years of exceptional timekeeping performance. To commemorate Longines’ proud jubilee, G. Nicolas Hayek Jr., CEO of the Swatch Group and Walter von Kaenel, President of Longines, will inaugurate an exhibition reviewing 125 years of sports timekeeping.

This event will be attended by leading Swiss and foreign sports personalities. On this occasion, Longines will introduce its newest “Honour and Glory” set, a 125 unit limited edition of a presentation case containing a pair of timepieces: a vintage sports timer and a wrist chronograph patterned on the timer’s original design.

Here is the last version introduced last year, in a limited series of 600 sets.

Longines and other Swatch Group companies have performed official timekeeping and other duties at 27 Olympic Games, 170 World Championships, 8 Asian Games and at countless top-tier sports meets.

The exhibition is located at the Longines factory in Saint-Imier, Switzerland and will be open to the public upon request after January 28, 2003.
