Hi Walt,
I am not very good at reading phonetics, if you had heard me speak in English you would understand why. Here are little changes
- BLONK-pan (very soft n on the end)
BLON-pan (the C of Blancpain is not pronounced in french unlike english with for ex Mel Blanc)
- Ikepod– I have no idea (long I-key-pod?)
At Basel’97 I spoke with them and said EEKay-pod and I was not corrected.
- yay-GER le-COOL-tre (short e on the end)
It is Jay-GER Le-Cooltre (because they are in Le Sentier, if they were located in Schauffhausen it would be your way).

I have seen many posts about correct pronunciation of watch brands. I have included below a more complete list as indicated in the book “Complete Price Guide To Watches” 1997 edition, published by Cooksey and Shugart. I hope I’m not infringing on any copy write laws. These are the more common names, the book, however is filled with many more:
- Audemars Piguet – aw-dee-MAR, PEE-gay
- Baume & Mercier – bome-MAY & mair-cyay
- Blancpain – Blahnk-Pan
- Breitling – BRITE-ling
- Cartier – kar-t-yay
- Chopard – show-par
- Corum – Kore-um
- Ebel – AY-ble
- Girrard Perregaux – jir-ard per-ay-go
- Heuer – HEW-er
- Ingraham – ing-gram
- Jaeger – YAY-gur
- A. Lange & Sohne – A. lahng un zoo-nah
- Le Coultre – luh-kool-tray
- Longines – LAWNG-jeen
- Movado – moe-VAH-doe
- Nardin – nar din
- Omega – oh-me-guh
- Patek Philippe – pa-tek fee-leep
- Piaget – pee-uh-jaay
- Piguet – pee gay
- Rado – rah-doe
- Schaffausen – shaf-HOW-zun
- Tissot – tee-SOh
- Vacheron & Constantin – VASH-er-on, CON-stan-teen
- Wittnauer – Wit-nower
some disagreements.

I agree with most of them. A couple of them I would not.
- Baume & Mercier – bome-MAY & mair-cyay
/should be Baum ay Mair-syay. actually Baume et Mercier.
- Blancpain – Blahnk-Pan / should be Blahn Pan. soft K.
- Heuer – HEW-er / should be Horyer.
- Jaeger – YAY-gur- / Jay ger is a posibility depending if you hold with the French or the Germans.
- Le Coultre – luh-kool-tray / Luh-kool-tre soft e on the end.
- Nardin – nar din / the din to be pronounced as in vin French for wine.
- Vacheron & Constantin – VASH-er-on, CON-stan-teen /
again the in is as in vin ‘hic’
- Wittnauer – Wit-nower / Vit nower.
How some of the chaps mangle the names..

English is not the native language in the Far East but it is widely spoken though often not very well. Less common are European languages. Hence the proliferation of differing pronunciations of Swiss brands by even watch dealers. I will venture to remark that the Swiss are pretty confusing as it is being at the crossroads.
Common pronunciations of watch brands.
- breegay
- blunk pun
- jayger lay koot
- ulis see nar din
- vacher ron constant tin
- patek filip
- lung gay ( A.Lange und Sohne)
- Loleck ( Rolex)
has anyone ever tried to pronounce the Muller as in FM. I know I can’t at least not correctly.
