Auction Total: US$ 2,702,943 / SFr. 3’757’090
(New York, NY)—Antiquorum opened its 2003 auction season in New York on March 19-20 with exceptionally strong results. The auction of Collector’s Pocket Watches, Wristwatches & Clocks (March 19) together with the A-auction online (March 20) totaled an impressive US$ 2,702,943.
“We are very pleased with the results of these sales”, said Osvaldo Patrizzi, Antiquorum’s Chairman. “The situation in the Middle East has not affected the watch market”.
Collectors worldwide bid actively on the telephone and the internet. A total of 246 people registered for online bidding and during the course of the auction week more than 55,000 people visited Antiquorum’s site, www.antiquorum.com.
During the “A-auction” of March 20th—Antiquorum’s version of an E-auction—watch sales ranged from US$ 1 to US$ 5,115. The average selling price was US$ 900.
